Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, claims over 200,000 lives in the United States each year. However, experts emphasize that more than 93% of melanomas can be prevented with proper sun safety practices, and the disease is highly treatable if detected early.
During Melanoma Awareness Month, the Melanoma Research Foundation is continuing its award-winning public awareness campaign, #GetNaked, aimed at encouraging proactive skin checks and raising awareness about the importance of early detection.
Celebrity esthetician and skincare expert Ian Michael Crumm urges individuals to get their skin checked regularly, either annually or monthly. He also recommends seeing a dermatologist immediately if any suspicious spots appear on the skin, as they could signal the early stages of melanoma.
In addition to regular skin checks, Crumm advises daily sunscreen use, regardless of the weather, and wearing UV-protective sunglasses to safeguard against harmful sun exposure.
