Celebrity Charity Golf Event Raises Over £6,000 for Ardgowan Hospice

Mar Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort recently hosted a Charity Golf Day on its prestigious Earl of Mar Scottish championship golf course, drawing participation from 68 golf enthusiasts and notable celebrities. The event, which featured actors like Martin Compston and football legends such as Frank McAvennie and Gordon Dalziel, successfully raised £6,303 in support of Ardgowan Hospice in Greenock.

Ardgowan Hospice offers crucial care and support to individuals across Inverclyde facing life-limiting illnesses such as cancer, heart failure, and neurological conditions. The funds raised will assist the hospice in providing essential services including medical care, emotional support, and practical assistance to patients and their families.

Chris McQueen, Head of Golf at Mar Hall, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming success of the event, emphasizing the special significance of Ardgowan Hospice and the community’s support. Joanna Hunter, Fundraising Manager at Ardgowan Hospice, extended heartfelt thanks to all participants and sponsors, highlighting the event’s impact in helping meet the hospice’s operational costs, which amount to approximately £11,000 per day.

The Charity Golf Day was not only a day of friendly competition but also a testament to the community’s commitment to supporting vital healthcare services. Participants enjoyed excellent golfing conditions and camaraderie, contributing to a memorable and impactful fundraising effort.

The success of the event underscores the power of collective action in making a meaningful difference in healthcare provision, ensuring that Ardgowan Hospice can continue its crucial mission of caring for those in need.
