Giraldo, known for her role in the telenovela “La Reina del Sur,” was inspired by her mother, an Ayurveda doctor, and her own experience with a serious concussion. “With the help of my doctor, I found these mushroom supplements with adaptogens, and for the first time since my concussion, I felt some relief,” Giraldo shared with Athletech News. This positive experience led her to launch Fungiments.

The functional mushroom market is booming, with substantial investments flowing in. For instance, Spacegoods, another mushroom-based startup, raised $3.1 million in seed funding. Functional beverage brand Odyssey also secured $6 million for its ready-to-drink mushroom-infused cans. According to market research, the functional mushroom market is expected to reach $31.3 million this year and could grow to $83.6 million by 2033.
