On Monday, the Greek government officially rolled out its new digital health platform, MyHealth, marking a significant milestone in the country’s healthcare modernization. This launch represents the full implementation of a nationwide Electronic Health Record (EHR) system designed to securely centralize and digitize citizens’ medical data. The Ministry of Health emphasized that the platform aims to improve healthcare services for both patients and providers by creating a safer, user-friendly digital environment.
Citizens can now access their complete health records—including diagnoses, prescriptions, test results, and hospital stays—through the online portal Citizen.ehealthrecord.gov.gr. Meanwhile, healthcare professionals have access to patient histories via Doctor.ehealthrecord.gov.gr. This dual access system is intended to enhance personalized care and streamline clinical processes, ensuring medical staff have critical information readily available.
The Ministry outlined several benefits that citizens can expect. These include the ability to review medical information at any time and better communication channels with healthcare providers. An integrated artificial intelligence (AI) digital assistant helps users navigate the platform and manage their health data with ease.
For doctors, the platform consolidates patient information from across the healthcare system into a single, accessible database. It also offers AI-powered tools to assist with navigation and data analysis, helping medical professionals make informed decisions more efficiently.
Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis described the launch as “a historic moment in the digital transformation of public health in Greece.” He highlighted the collaborative efforts among government agencies in developing the platform. “This major initiative, implemented by the Ministry of Health, the Greek Public Health Institute, and the Ministry of Digital Governance, is a result of coordinated and visionary teamwork,” Georgiadis said. “The EHR fundamentally changes how medical information is transmitted and used by healthcare workers. It ensures that critical data is immediately and securely accessible during routine appointments or emergencies.”
Supporting these remarks, Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou called the national EHR system a “game changer” for the health sector. “It will greatly benefit citizens and doctors alike,” Papastergiou stated. “With the MyHealth app, citizens can easily and conveniently access all their health information anytime, anywhere.” He added, “This is a key reform that not only facilitates citizens’ lives but also cuts down on bureaucracy. There is no longer a need to carry paper medical reports.”
The new digital health platform is part of a broader government effort to modernize public services and expand digital infrastructure within the healthcare system. By integrating technology into patient care and administrative processes, Greece aims to enhance efficiency, improve outcomes, and provide a higher standard of care across the country.
