Public health officials in Manitoba have confirmed four new measles exposure locations and are urging anyone who may have been present at the affected sites to monitor for symptoms and verify their vaccination status. The four locations are the Boundary Trails Health Centre emergency department in Plum Coulee, Plum Coulee School, the Portage District General Hospital emergency room, and the Quick Care Clinic in Steinbach. Health officials advise that individuals who were present at any of these locations during the specified times should monitor for symptoms of measles until dates ranging from June 27 to July 4, depending on the date of exposure.
In addition, several other exposure sites have been identified in Manitoba previously. These include Riverwood Church in Winnipeg, McPhillips Medical Clinic, Dynacare Lab, C.W. Wiebe Medical Centre Urgent Care Entrance in Winkler, and Winkler Sommerfeld Mennonite Church.
Manitoba has 72 confirmed measles cases so far this year. Public health officials are working to provide targeted information to those potentially affected and have broadened the eligibility for early measles vaccination to include children aged six to 12 months who have been evacuated from their communities due to wildfires.
