Fort Wayne, Ind. – Summit City Climbing Co., poised to become the city’s premier destination for rock climbing enthusiasts, has encountered a setback as it was compelled to shutter its doors following an inspection violation on Monday.
The highly anticipated opening of Summit City Climbing Co., set to be Fort Wayne’s inaugural gym dedicated solely to rock climbing, has been put on hold indefinitely after a city inspection revealed a failure to provide basic utilities to guests.
In an official statement shared on its Facebook page, Summit City Climbing Co. informed its community about the abrupt closure prompted by the city inspection. The post read, “When the city came for an inspection, they said the place was not ready and no one else should be in the building. Since the training room leads to the bathroom, we would not be able to have basic utilities for guests. Because of this, we regretfully have to close our doors until this gets resolved.”
Originally slated to celebrate its grand opening over the past weekend, the climbing gym made the decision to postpone the event upon realizing the extent of work required to prepare the facility. While making necessary adjustments to the space and striving to advance progress on the training room, the gym found itself subject to a city inspection, leading to the enforced closure.
Summit City Climbing Co. humbly appealed to the public for understanding and patience during this challenging period, stating, “Please give us time and grace as we figure out what’s going on and how to move forward.”
