In October, Steel disclosed his diagnosis after noticing swelling in his neck, which led to a series of medical tests and treatments. In a heartfelt message on X on Friday morning, he joyfully announced that a recent scan had shown his cancer is now gone.
“A nice man from UCL Hospital called this week to say a scan showed the cancer I had has all gone. The treatment worked, the cancer bottled it and ran off, the wimp,” Steel humorously expressed.
Reflecting on his journey, Steel thanked the medical staff at UCLH for their exceptional care, acknowledging their role in saving his life. He also expressed gratitude to his fans for their overwhelming support during this challenging period.
“UCLH is an amazing place packed with wonderful souls. They’ve saved my life but I reckon this mention on Twitter makes us even,” Steel remarked, adding, “And… lots of you sent me messages which was SO appreciated.”
Known for his comedic prowess, Steel lightened the mood by joking about his experiences with chemotherapy and radiotherapy, quipping, “I don’t recommend chemotherapy or radiotherapy as recreational drugs.”
Looking forward, Steel humorously hinted at future projects related to his cancer journey, promising to now “shut up about it, after the ‘my cancer journey’ book and tour and musical.”
